SPECIALIZED PRODUCTION MACHINERY Although a high percentage of fibers are connectorized before (See Fiber Connector Polishing) polishing, there are many communications applications for bare fibers. ULTRA TEC has developed both products and techniques for providing support to the generally fragile fiber during lapping and polishing. Workholders are normally mounted on the ULTRAPOL polishing machine.
FLAT & ANGLED ENDS The production of end polishes is carried out with ULTRAPOL End & End Polisher. The system allows for flat (0 degree) and up to 15 degree bevel angles with simple adjustment. A standard bare fiber workholder is shown below.
