PRECISION SAWING ULTRASLICE 6000 saw provides high versatility and an unbeatable combination of features for materials labs. The in-built traveling table feed provides the highest versatility holding for samples of all shapes and sizes. Long linear cuts may also be made for metallurgical failure analysis applications, with a motor being robust and fast enough enough to handle large metallic specimens as easily as small and soft polymers and ceramics. A counterbalance feed arm may be added to either system for the user who is more familiar with, or has an application that benefits from this cutting approach. LAPPING & POLISHING - MICROSCOPY ULTRAPOL 1200 polishing machines accept Quick Release workholders straight from an ULTRASLICE. For materialographic sample preparation this approach allows for the rapid, convenient production of encapsulated samples in the workholder shown below:
Workholders exist for unencapsulated and odd shaped samples. We are also pleased to also design and manufacture a custom workholder to the end users defined specifications. The out put from ULTRAPOL, after a series of preparation steps, is ready for either optical microscopy or on the SEM. For the production of extremely thin specimens for TEM applications, unencapsulated samples may be thinned accurately (wedge polished) on ULTRAPOL 1200 or mounted in a precision jig and processed with MULTIPOL machinery Other specific workholders have been designed to be both Quick Release and directly fitting onto the stage of an electron microscope -- See an edge polishing workholder below, with integral SEM stub.
